Abstract:

The RFPs we use today are often borrowed from our friends or found online. These are great ways to help ensure success, but how good are they, really? We reviewed and graded hundreds of public RFPs and there is a common theme. Our multi-university study found that the most successful contracts simplified the selection process, restructured the interviews to focus on project execution, and instituted performance metrics.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Utilize the top five RFP improvements to drastically improve contract performance outcomes
  2. Improve the client-procurement relationship through better RFPs
CMBOK Competencies: 2.1 Business Management, 4.1 Acquisition Planning, 6.2 Ensure Quality

Level of difficulty: Intermediate
