What Is the Contract Management Leadership Development Program?

The Contract Management Leadership Development Program (CMLDP) is designed to help develop the next generation of contract management leaders through an intensive yearlong educational experience. This webinar, exclusively available to NCMA members, will describe how the program works, and demonstrate its value to the contract management professional.

This session will include CMLDP graduates from several classes. Melanie Burgess and Crystal Glenn, graduates of the first two classes, will moderate the session with panelists who will share how the program has enhanced their knowledge and careers. The moderators will provide collaboration among the panelists that have also graduated from different classes. The program has been in place for ten years and representatives will talk about their various levels of career progression along with the impact the CMLDP has had on their careers and the companies that hire them.

Crystal Glenn has more than ten years of experience in various career fields, including Finance and Accounting, Contract Administration, Marketing, and Commercial Insurance. Currently, she is a Program Control Consultant at CenturyLink Government Services and previously employed as a Project Control Manager for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Program Controller for the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA). She has worked on various Government and International programs managing budgets and scheduling of $100M+ with earned value requirements providing various project and financial reporting.  She works closely with the program managers, program team members, contracts, program control team, accounting and finance to ensure program requirements are met and overall team collaboration.

Burgess Consulting

As President of Burgess Consulting, LLC, Melanie Burgess delivers professional and knowledgeable support in areas of contract management and accounting. Melanie provides expert advice in preparation for DCAA audits and complying with federal procurement regulations, specializes in the design and operation of accounting systems for Government Contractors, and provides cradle to grave contract administration support, as well as a variety of other financial and contractual services. Melanie began her career as a financial analyst and contract administrator for a defense contractor and brings together the multiple functions needed to properly manage contracts: accounting, contracts, and program management. Melanie is a frequent lecturer on leadership and government contracting topics both locally and across the United States. She is a distinguished graduate from NCMA’s Leadership Development Program and Chairs the Denver Chapter’s Scholarship committee.
