Why is the Uniform Commercial Code important?

The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) governs domestic and international commercial transactions. It evolved from common law in the 1600s when the practices for commercial transaction laws began to codify. In the 1800s, these codified practices were used to settle landmark commercial law cases. The UCC was originally published in 1952 and has undergone several revisions. Today, the UCC’s global influence and implementation is widespread—spanning domestically from Native American tribes to major American corporations, and internationally from the United Nations as an organization to its individual country members.

Who should pursue the Certified Commercial Contract Manager designation?

  • Commercial contract managers who are interested in any form of domestic and international commercial transactions,
  • Government contract managers (federal, state, and local) who are interested in the foundation of government contract laws and regulations, and
  • All contract managers who are interested in the source of inspiration for common law and landmark commercial law cases.

Contracting professionals who have education, training, knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code, and a minimum of 1 year of experience can apply for the CCCM certification.

Eligibility requirements:

NCMA application fee: $150 Member Benefit Fee / $350 Regular Fee.

Exam provider fee: $125 per exam for United States and Canada. International test takers must pay $150 per exam. Reschedule requests made within 72 hours of an exam will result in a $100 (domestic) and $130 (international) fee.
