Marketing Manager - Membership Acquisition

Overview

The Marketing Manager for Membership Acquisition has end-to-end responsibility for campaign strategy planning, execution, and management, as well as membership nurturing strategy and campaign metrics.

In this role you will be responsible for the development and execution of membership acquisition, both live and automated marketing campaigns, to help accelerate NCMA member lead growth in procurement, contract management, and other similar segments.

This person must be a strategic thinker, problem solver, and a well-rounded marketer with a strong customer focus. This person will be an integral member of the marketing team, helping to lead marketing's efforts to grow our presence and short- and long-term conversions in the marketplace. They will work closely with the membership, education, certification, and events departments, as well as outside agencies and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop campaign tactics and marketing materials that effectively convey member value proposition of NCMA. Includes planning and executing on campaign delivery vehicles (social media strategy, search engine optimization, email, etc.)
  • Develop strategic and tactical initiatives including: campaign strategy briefs, content requirements, lead nurturing plan, marketing tactics needed to build campaign funnel, and reporting templates.
  • Initiate, manage, and nurture direct and indirect marketing campaigns to accelerate prospect movement through the conversion funnel.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze and interpret key metrics/reports, recommending corrective action and ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness. Report on the member lead to opportunity conversion and key metrics and quickly adjust course as needed.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the impact of member acquisition activities on the member life cycle length.
  • Manage data for new and prospective members in AMS.
  • Deploy AMS campaign journeys and educate the content creation strategy by providing feedback around content performance.
  • Actively solicit input from internal groups regarding new membership acquisition and campaign plan requirements for new product launches and existing products pipeline development that includes defining project scope, roadmap, goals, and deliverables.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of campaigns, participate in executive meetings to provide updates on campaign roadmap and results.
  • Investigate and implement new technologies such as decision engine, services, and/or vendor solutions to enhance Marketing’s capabilities.
  • Monitor industry issues and competitive landscape to adjust NCMA’s positioning and messaging if required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Significant professional experience with integrated go-to-market strategy development and execution.
  • Solid knowledge of channel nuisances and apply channel best practices for maximum reach and engagement.
  • Experience using marketing automation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing experience in lead generation and acquisition strategy development.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Ability to navigate, influence, manage, and lead cross-functional teams without direct line supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Marketing Specialist Position

Overview

As our Education Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring a constant supply of qualified and relevant leads for our education products and offerings. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing end-to-end marketing campaigns designed to meet our sales targets. This position includes copy writing, email nurturing, promotion of in-house webinars, coordinating offsite event campaigns, and the development of collateral and other materials as needed.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will have direct ownership of delivering nurtured and qualified leads to the sales organization and will be expected to collaborate with our education team leadership, design team, and outside agency to ensure your success. To be successful in this role, you must be able to develop in-depth knowledge of our education offerings and present their value to member and customer prospects. Your success will be measured by the quantity and quality of leads delivered and their progress towards conversion into new/additive revenue for our association.

As a Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for executing on marketing campaign strategies, advising on tactics, and overseeing the day-to-day plans for marketing initiatives. You will oversee cross-functional execution of multi-channel campaigns that will generate and nurture our inbound leads for NCMA. In this role it is important for you to work in conjunction with other marketing teams to achieve your lead generation goals through third-party advertising, content marketing, event marketing, social media and additional digital marketing channels to help drive the sales pipeline. It will be critically important that you understand how to market to the government and private industry community with the right message at the right time through the right channel, and with strategic frequency. You will be responsible for some local or out of town travel, representing the association at various events, and potentially communicating with senior leadership within the profession from government and industry.

  • Develop compelling, end-to-end marketing campaigns, aligned with sales, that drive interest in NCMA’s education solutions; campaigns may include components across a variety of channels including digital, in-person events or partnerships
  • Identify the messaging and activities that resonate most with each targeted persona throughout the different stages of the buying cycle within the association community and utilize this knowledge to build upon the success and expand campaigns accordingly
  • Build campaigns that create demand for new business and engage renewed interest from existing clients
  • Translate organizational messaging and value propositions into campaigns targeting the unique needs of the association community
  • Partner with the education organization throughout the process, positioning yourself as an extension of their team and interact with them in a customer-centric fashion
  • Engage hands-on with our marketing automation platform and our customer relationship management platform, as required, in support of executing campaigns; work jointly with membership and customer service operations to launch all campaigns
  • Be responsible for the lead numbers delivered to the business, as well as the conversion rates through all channels, the scorecard, and working cross-functionally with team members to deliver the results to key stakeholders
  • Build relationships with regional industry influencers and media contacts with an eye to adding momentum and bringing efficiency to campaigns
  • Analyze the success of past campaigns and use data to make strategic recommendations for future strategy for content and campaign plans, with a focus on the impact it makes on target segments
  • Help fine-tune solution specific lead scoring models and essential account and contact information to help build out buying personas and aid in lead qualification

Qualifications

  • 3+ years prior marketing experience; association industry and product marketing experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on developing in-market messages and final copy for emails, ad campaigns, etc.
  • Experience working with the full spectrum of marketing activities (event management, digital marketing, email marketing, webinars, 3rd party activities, advertising and sales enablement)
  • Ability to target audiences in a creative manner that produces the highest possible results for the dollars invested
  • Measurement-focused and results-driven across the full spectrum of campaign and program activities
  • Must be an energetic, self-starter who works well independently and in a team setting; experience working directly with sales team is an asset
  • Positive energy and a sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep many “balls in the air” simultaneously and pushing many projects forward concurrently
  • Working knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign a plus.
  • Reputation as a relationship builder and excellent ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with marketing automation platforms (Real Magnet, Hoot Suite,), CRM (SFDC or MSCRM)
  • Website design, web editing (WYSISYG editor), and/or XML/HTML experience preferred
