Awards

NCMA has several awards to recognize many outstanding efforts of members, non-members, and chapters. Below is a brief description of these awards, nomination/application deadlines, and time of presentation. Albert Berger Outstanding Chapter Leadership Award
Deadline for Nominations: April 15. Nominations must be signed by a current member of the national Board of Directors. This award gives special recognition at the national level to those volunteers who demonstrate superior chapter leadership achievements in support of their chapters' goals and activities. Presented by the national president at a national leadership conference.

Alvis D. Keen Honorary Life Member Award
Deadline for Nominations: January 15. Members may submit nominations to the national office, with endorsements of a chapter president. Criteria include position in contract management and continuous years of contribution and service to field of contract management and NCMA. Presented by the national president at World Congress.

Arthur G. Muller Annual Volunteer Award
Deadline for Nominations: October 30. NCMA chapters may nominate one candidate each program year (elected current chapter officers are not eligible). This award recognizes NCMA members who have served the association through his/her participation, contribution, and leadership in its activities (without compensation). Presented by national president at a national leadership conference.

Blanche Witte Memorial Foundation Annual Award
Deadline for Nominations: November 15. Nominations open to members and non-members. Awarded to individual(s) who have made outstanding professional contributions to NCMA or their workplace in the preceding year. Presented by national president at World Congress.

Charles A. Dana Distinguished Service Award
Deadline for nominations: October 15. Members of the national Board of Directors and chapter presidents may submit nominations. The recipients of this award will have provided distinguished service to the association over an extended period of time. Presented by the national president at World Congress.

Charles Delaney Memorial Annual Award
Deadline for Nominations: December 31. Nominations may be submitted by any NCMA chapter. Awarded to any NCMA member who has published the best article in Contract Management magazine over the year's 12 issues. Presented by national president at World Congress.

Excellence in Contracts Professionalism
The NCMA Excellence in Contracts Professionalism Award was established in 2007 to recognize individuals with a remarkable reputation for professionalism and exceptional achievement in Contracts Management. The recipient will have made specific contributions to their organization's success in the preceding 12 months; demonstrated self improvement efforts over the course of their career; displayed professional qualities throughout their career; contributed to the advancement of others throughout the course of their career, and; a proven ability to convey contracting professionalism to others both internal and external to their organizations during the span of their career.

Fellow Award
Deadline for Nominations: 75 days before a Leadership Summit or Mid-year Leadership Conference. Nominations submitted to chapter Fellow chair/coordinator. Criteria to be a Fellow includes academic background, contributions to education, contributions to NCMA programs and conferences, service to NCMA through chapter and national offices, and status in the contracting community.

Herbert Roback Memorial Award
Deadline for Nominations: February 1. Anyone may submit nomination to NCMA national office. For members and non-members. This award is presented annually to a nationally renowned and distinguished American who has made a significant contribution to the betterment of public contract management through lifelong achievement in the public and private sectors. Presented by national president at World Congress.

James E. Cravens Membership Award
Deadline for Nominations: August 15. Nominations submitted by chapter presidents. This award is designed to recognize NCMA chapter and individual members for outstanding membership accomplishments during the past NCMA program year (July 1 to June 30), particularly in area of membership recruitment and retention. Presented by national president at a leadership conference.

National Achievement Award
Deadline for Nominations: March 1. Nominations must be signed by members of the Board of Directors. A means of giving special recognition to those volunteers who make notable contributions in such areas as writing of educational products, any unique NCMA advocacy program, promotion of the certification program, or any other special and/or unique contribution which is deserving of national recognition. The award may be given to individuals, groups of individuals, or chapters. Presented by national president at World Congress or leadership conference.

National Education Award
Deadline for Nominations: March 1. Nominations submitted by chapter to national office. Goes to person(s) who have made outstanding contributions in "contracts" procurement education. Presented by national president at World Congress.

NCMA Global Contracting Award
The award will be presented to an individual who has made noteworthy contributions to acquisition operations including extraordinary business leadership or team participation in the design, development or execution of an acquisition program, project or contract that furthers an agency mission or company’s business. NCMA will award $5,000 to a contracts professional who has contributed significantly to acquisition operations or acquisition policy. Nominations must be submitted by January 15.

Outstanding Fellow Award
Deadline for Nominations: March 1. Nominations should be submitted by the chapter president. This award honors those who include significant contributions to NCMA at the chapter or national level since becoming a Fellow; mentors others, and makes continuing contributions to the profession. Presented by national president at a leadership conference.

W. Gregor Macfarlan Excellence in Contract Management Research and Writing
W. Gregor Macfarlan served the contract management profession for more than 40 years, as a researcher, author, mentor, and teacher. He once served as NCMA’s national president, and held numerous volunteer leader positions with NCMA and the Washington, DC, Chapter. Macfarlan was one of the most respected and beloved people ever to serve the contract management profession. Papers may be submitted for consideration in one of three categories: graduate research, professional research, and undergraduate paper writing. Theoretical and empirical papers relevant to the practice of contract management are welcome. Papers may be presented from a variety of basic disciplines, such as business, finance, marketing, management, accounting, management information systems (MIS), public administration, economics, business education, and related fields, as long as the research is relevant to the contract management field.

Walter R. Graalman Award
Deadline for Nominations: August 31. National award to outstanding chapters, with three categories of awards based on chapter size. Presented by national president at a leadership conference.
