The Government's Renewed Interest in Value Engineering - What the Acquisition Professional Needs to KnowAuthors/Speakers: Abstract: Value engineering (VE) has been an effective tool used by the government to reduce costs of the products or services it buys for over 50 years. Recently, DOD and OFPP have placed a renewed emphasis on VE as a means to help the government meet its cost reduction objectives. All this emphasis on VE means that contracting and program managers will need to know a lot more about it. The speaker, who has extensive experience in VE, will discuss the basics of VE and its coverage in the FAR, as well as some of latest initiatives, such a increasing the use of the VE in service contracts. He will also provide the status of the latest government and industry initiatives to increase the use of VE.
