IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL CPCM CANDIDATES!
NCMA regularly updates its certification materials and 2013 is a year that will bring improvements to the CPCM program. The updates will begin in July with the publication of the CMBOK, 4th Edition. In November, NCMA will release the CPCM Study Guide, 3rd Edition. In January 2014, there will be significant additions to the CPCM exam question pool. What does this mean for CPCM candidates?
Study Materials
For current candidates and new candidates, all of whom are planning to test on or before December 31, 2013, the preferred study materials will be the CMBOK, 3rd Edition and the CPCM Study Guide, 2nd Edition.
Anyone planning to test after December 31, 2013 should purchase the new CMBOK, 4th Edition and the new CPCM Study Guide, 3rd Edition. Candidates who intend to self-study or study in groups outside the online preparatory course mentioned below should have a definite plan for testing before purchasing study materials.
Online Preparatory Courses
Candidates who enroll in the July–September CPCM Online Preparatory Course will receive the CMBOK, 3rd Edition and CPCM Study Guide, 2nd Edition. All students who enroll in this class should plan to complete their testing by December 31, 2013.
Candidates who enroll in the October–December CPCM Online Preparatory Course will receive the new CMBOK, 4th Edition and the new CPCM Study Guide, 3rd Edition. Candidates in this session will be prepared to test regardless of whether they choose to test in December 2013 or later.
Examination
All candidates are reminded that in the event they do not pass their examination, they must wait a minimum of 30 days before retesting. If a candidate waits until December 2013 to test and does not pass, that candidate will be required to take a different version of the exam beginning January 1, 2014.
What is the CPCM?
A Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) certification demonstrates that you have met NCMA’s highest standards for education, training, and experience, and have demonstrated your knowledge of the contract management competencies in the Contract Management Body of Knowledge.
Who takes the certification exam?
Contracting professionals who have mastered the majority of the contract management competencies in the Contract Management Body of Knowledge (CMBOK), have extensive business education and training, and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
When can I take the exam?
Individuals who are interested in taking the exam must submit an application to NCMA. Once the application has been processed, reviewed, and approved you will be able to take the exam.
Where do I take the exam?
The CPCM exam is offered weekly through Kryterion Learning Centers. There are over 600 national and international testing centers available. NCMA also offers exams at educational conferences―check the conferences page for the next NCMA conference. NCMA’s local chapters also host exams; check with your chapter or call NCMA to find out if your chapter is hosting an exam this year.
