Eligibility and Steps to Certification

CPCM
Certified Professional
Contracts Manager

Eligibility for the CPCM requires a candidate to have:

  • A degree from a regionally or Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) accredited institution at the bachelor's level.
  • Degrees from outside the U.S must be evaluated by an independent third party such as World Education Services.
  • Five years of work experience in the contract management field.
  • 120 hours of continuing professional education; see our Continuing Professional Education (CPE) GuidePDF format for details. 

To earn the CPCM, a candidate must take and pass the CPCM exam.

Steps to Certification:

Application

  1. Complete application
  2. Send to NCMA with fee and supporting documents

Registration

  1. NCMA reviews application
  2. NCMA sends record of eligibility to exam provider
  3. NCMA e-mails instructions to candidate
  4. Candidate registers for exam

Examination

  1. Candidate takes the exam in secure, proctored environment
  2. Passing score for the CPCM exam is a minimum of 70%
