Eligibility and Steps to Certification
Eligibility for the CFCM requires a candidate to have:
- A degree from a regionally or Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) accredited institution at the bachelor's level.
- Degrees from outside the U.S will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- One year of work experience in the contract management field.

To earn the CFCM, a candidate must take and pass the CFCM exam.

Steps to Certification:
Application
- Complete application
- Send application to NCMA with fee and supporting documents
Registration
- NCMA reviews application
- NCMA sends record of eligibility to exam provider
- NCMA e-mails instructions to candidate
- Candidate registers for exam
Examination - Candidate takes exam in secure, proctored environment
