CFCM

Notice to CFCM Candidates:

The CFCM Examination covers FAR changes through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-57. We recommend that you purchase the CFCM Study Guide, 2nd Edition.

What is the CFCM?

A Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) certification validates your education, training, experience, and knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation

Who takes the certification exam?

Federal employees and military members who have previously earned the minimum required Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) or Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting (FAC-C) certification and contracting professionals in the private sector who deal with federal contracts.

What is the level of education required to become certified?

An undergraduate degree of any type from a regionally accredited college or university or from a distance‐learning institution accredited by the Distance Education Training Council is required. Degrees from outside the United States must be evaluated by an independent third party such as World Education Services. Non‐degreed candidates for the CFCM who have ten years of verifiable contract management experience may request a waiver.

When can I take the exam?

Individuals who are interested in taking the exam must submit an application to NCMA. Once the application has been processed, reviewed, and approved you will be able to take the exam. Note: If you intend to test at a Kryterion Learning Center do NOT attempt to contact Kryterion prior to receiving approval of your application.

Where do I take the exam?

The CFCM exam is offered at various times each week through Kryterion Learning Centers. There are over 600 national and international testing centers available. NCMA also offers exams at educational conferences―check the conferences page for the next NCMA conference. NCMA’s local chapters also host exams; check with your chapter or call NCMA to find out if your chapter is hosting an exam this year. Candidates who are not within easy driving distance of a Kryterion Learning Center may apply take an online proctored exam at home. The online proctor option requires the purchase of a special webcam and strict adherence to Kryterion's procedures. This option is hosted by Kryterion, not NCMA. For details, please click here.

How should I prepare for the exam?

The best method of preparing is to enroll in NCMA's 10-week CFCM Online Preparatory Course. The course is intructor-led and asynchronous so you are not tied to an arbitrary meeting time. it is offered once each quarter and includes all study materials. Seating is limited and the class fills up quickly. Contact education@ncmahq.org for details.

You may also self study or form your own group using the following study aids for NCMA:

NOTE CONCERNING USE OF APPROPRIATE STUDY MATERIALS/AIDS:

With the success and rising popularity of the CFCM program, materials are being marketed online which have not been reviewed and specifically approved by the NCMA Certification Department. If you purchase study materials from anywhere other than the NCMA website (www.ncmahq.org), you do so at your own risk.
