DOL Proposes to Revise How Contractors Report Their Veteran Hiring Practices

On February 24, 2014, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued a proposed rule that would revise the current regulations governing how contractors and subcontractors report the number of veterans they have hired. Under the proposed rule, contractors and subcontractors would only be required to report the aggregate number of veterans hired, rather than break down veteran hires by specific categories, as is currently required. The proposed rule would also change the name of the report from the “VETS-100A” to the “VETS-4212” report. The reporting requirements would continue to apply to contractors and subcontractors with contracts worth $100,000 or more and entered into or modified after December 1, 2003. Written comments on the proposed rule must be submitted by April 25, 2014. (79 Fed. Reg. 10063, 2/24/2014.)
