Senate Introduces Bill to Require U.S.-Made Apparel for Federal Workers

On February 3, 2014, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced the “Wear American Act” (S. 2001). This bill would require that textiles and apparel purchased by the federal government be manufactured in the United States wholly from articles, materials, or supplies mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States. The bill would allow waivers for foreign-made apparel where items cannot be secured from domestic sources. The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
