DOD, GSA, and NASA Update and Clarify the Priority of Sources of Supplies and Services for Government Use

On December 31, 2013, the Department of Defense (DOD), the General Services Administration (GSA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) issued a final rule amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation to update and clarify the priority of sources of supplies and services used by the government. The final rule is intended to encourage agencies to use nonmandatory sources for procurements to leverage agency buying power and thereby increase acquisition efficiency. This rule became effective January 30, 2014. (78 Fed. Reg. 80376, 12/31/2013.)
