SBA Revises NAICS Size Standards for Utilities Sector

On December 23, 2013, the Small Business Administration (SBA) issued a final rule revising the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) size standards for 13 industries within the “Utilities Sector.” As part of its comprehensive size standard review, SBA increased receipts-based size standards for three industries. Additionally, for 10 electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution industries, SBA revised the measure for determining a business’ size from megawatt hours to number of employees. This final rule became effective January 22, 2014. (78 Fed. Reg. 77343, 12/23/2013.)
