SBA Increases Two NAICS Size Standards for Construction Sector

On December 23, 2013, the Small Business Administration (SBA) issued a final rule increasing two small business size standards in the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for the “Construction Sector.” After conducting a comprehensive review of size standards, SBA determined that the size standard for NAICS 237210, “Land Subdivision,” should be raised from $7 million in average annual receipts to $25.5 million. Additionally, SBA determined that the size standard for the “Dredging and Surface Cleanup Activities” exception under NAICS 237990, “Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction,” should be raised from $20 million to $25.5 million. This final rule became effective January 22, 2014. (78 Fed. Reg. 77334, 12/23/2013.)
