House Introduces Bill to Allow Private Businesses to Operate During a Government Shutdown on Leased Federal Property

On December 5, 2013, Rep. Robert Brady (D-PA) introduced the “Allowing Commerce to Continue in the Event of Successive Shutdowns Act” (H.R. 3664). If passed, this bill would prohibit the federal government from preventing private businesses from operating their businesses on leased federal property during a government shutdown. The bill was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
