House Introduces Bill Governing Pay Increases for Federal Employees Paid Hourly

On November 21, 2013, Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA), along with 13 other co-sponsors, introduced the “Wage Grade Employee Parity Act” (H.R. 3573). This bill would require that federal “wage grade,” or hourly, employees receive pay increases on the same scale as those received by other federal workers, such as “general schedule,” or salaried, employees. Under the bill, the pay percentage increase of hourly employees must be equivalent to the percentage increase received by other non-hourly federal employees in the same pay locality each year. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
