SBA Expands WOSB Program

On May 7, 2013, the Small Business Administration (SBA) issued an interim final rule removing the monetary limits on the women-owned small business (WOSB) program. Previously, the program had been limited to contracts under $6.5 million for manufacturing contracts and $4 million for all other contracts. Under the new rule, contracting officers may set-aside contracts for the WOSB program at any dollar amount, as long as the other requirements for a set aside are met. The interim final rule implements Section 1697 of the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2013, which removed statutory limitations on the program. The rule took effect May 7, 2013. Comments on this rule are due by June 6, 2013. (78 Fed. Reg. 26504, 5/7/2013.)
