House Passes Bill Allowing Contracting Officers to Consider Job Creation and Retention Information When Awarding Contracts

On March 21, 2013, Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) introduced the “American Jobs Matter Act of 2013” (H.R. 1332). If passed, the bill would allow contracting officers to consider contractor-provided information about the number of domestic jobs that would be created or retained if the contractor was awarded the contract. The bill has been referred to the House Armed Services Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
