House Introduces Bill to Authorize Best-Value Contracting Methods for Guard and Protective Service Contracts

On February 14, 2013, Rep. Trey Radel (R-FL), along with several cosponsors, introduced the “Protecting Americans Abroad Act” (H.R. 731). This bill authorizes the Department of State to use best-value contracting methods when awarding local guard or protective service contracts in high-risk areas under the diplomatic security program. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
