Senate Introduces Bill to Improve Federal Contracting Opportunities for Small Businesses

On February 7, 2013, Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) introduced the “Assuring Contracting Equity (ACE) Act” (S. 259). This bill would increase the Small Business Administration’s governmentwide small business contracting goals from 23 to 25 percent. Additionally, it would increase the goals for small disadvantaged businesses and women-owned businesses from 5 to 10 percent, and for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses and historically underutilized business zone small businesses from 3 to 6 percent. The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
