Department of Agriculture Proposes to Amend Guidelines for Providing Federal Procurement Preferences for Biobased Products

On December 5, 2012, the Department of Agriculture issued a notice of proposed rulemaking amending the Guidelines for Designating Biobased Products for Federal Procurement. The rule proposes adding eight new product categories to the list of biobased products that receive procurement preferences in federal contracting. The rule also proposes adding two new subcategories to previously designated product categories. Finally, the proposed rule suggests minimum biobased content requirements for all of these proposed categories and subcategories. Written comments on the proposed rule should be submitted on or before February 4, 2013. (77 Fed. Reg. 72654, 12/5/2012.)
