Senate Introduces Bill Ensuring Sufficient Sizing of DOD Work Forces
October 1, 2012
On September 21, 2012, Sen. Benjamin Cardin (D-MD), along with six cosponsors, introduced an act (S. 3617) to ensure the sufficient sizing of the civilian and contract services work forces of the Department of Defense (DOD). If passed, the bill would require the secretary of defense to take into account military strategy requirements and military end-strength to ensure that the civilian and contract services work forces of DOD are sufficiently sized. The bill would also require the comptroller general of the United States to submit a report within 180 days after the date of the enactment of the act, and annually thereafter, assessing the sufficiency of sizing of the civilian and contract services work forces of DOD. The bill was referred to the Committee on Armed Services.
