DOD Implements Export Control–Related Free Trade Agreements With the United Kingdom and Australia

On June 17, 2013, DOD issued a final rule amending the DFARS to implement three different export control–related treaties. Those treaties are:

These treaties exempt certain defense articles, technical information, and defense services from the International Traffic in Arms Regulations for the signatory countries. The DFARS amendments will streamline the export control regulations between the United States and the United Kingdom and the United States and Australia. This final rule adopts DOD’s interim rule of May 22, 2012, without change. The final rule became effective June 17, 2013. (78 Fed. Reg. 36108, 6/17/13.)
