House Introduces Bill to Encourage Information-Sharing Regarding Cybersecurity Threats

On February 13, 2013, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), along with cosponsor Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), introduced the “Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act” (CISPA) (H.R. 624). This bill would allow the government to provide classified cyber threat information to private companies and create procedures to allow the private sector to voluntarily share cyber threat information with the government. Additionally, the bill would provide added liability protections for companies that take measures to protect their networks or that share threat information. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Intelligence.
