DAU Logisticians Says Better Buying Power Initiatives Can Save Procurement Costs

February 24, 2012

"In the Army, hope is not a plan of action," said DAU Logistics Instructor Ron Burgess as he opened his presentation on "Better Buying Power for Logisticians" at the 2012 DAU Alumni Association South Region Symposium.

In an era on contrained procurement budgets, Burgess said the Army and other services will look to much stronger tools to meet procurement streamlining goals.

His presentation covered Dr. Ashton Carter's five major Better Buying Power initiatives, issued in September 2010 by the former Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. Last year Dr. Carter was named Deputy Secretary of Defense.
