Guide to the Contract Management Body of Knowledge

The National Contract Management Association has established the Guide to the Contract Management Body of Knowledge (CMBOK) as the prevailing guidance for how universities should align their contract management curricula. The guide provides the knowledge areas and competencies that are integral to the contract management process and the contract management profession.

In addition, the Annotated Guide to the Contract Management Body of Knowledge (2006) expands, refines, and reorganizes the information presented in previous editions. It provides further definition of the field of contract management, the framework for the body of knowledge, the practices outlined, the definitions, and the processes of contract management. This edition defines the contract and provides a step-by-step explanation of its life-cycle, from its planning and administration to its closeout or termination. The guide provides procedural steps that apply to the contract management process in general, and discusses in Section 4 those processes that are unique to federal or commercial contracting.
