Shuffle Through the U.S. Playing Card Museum: 4590 Beech St., Norwood. The museum showcases playing and tarot cards from around the world. With more than 4,000 playing decks and cards this location comprises the largest public collection. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Take a Lunch Cruise on the Belle of Cincinnati: Riverboats are a major part of Cincinnati heritage! On the Belle, “Banjo Bob” relates these and other interesting anecdotes while the Belle, a three-deck paddleboat steams steadily past dozens of downtown landmarks. Several riverboats give lunch trips and sightseeing tours.

  • The first ambulance service was established in Cincinnati in 1865.


  • Cincinnati Reds were the first professional baseball team.


  • Cincinnati had the first professional city fire department.


  • The American Federation of Labor was founded in Ohio.


  • Ohio senator John Glenn became the oldest man to venture into outer space. On February 20, 1962, he was the first American to orbit the earth. In October of 1998 at age 77 he returned to the space program and traveled back into space.
